4 Miles 4 Water Event Brings Attention to the Importance of Clean Water

Sat 6/8 @ 9:30AM

The work of Cleveland-based nonprofit Drink Local Drink Tap takes place both in its hometown and in the far-flung rural communities of Uganda.  Here in Northeast Ohio, where we’re lucky enough to be able to turn on the tap in our kitchen or bathroom and know we likely won’t get sick from drinking the water, it focuses on activities such as beach cleanups to help keep Lake Erie, our water source, healthier and more pollution free. In Uganda, where people often have to walk four miles (hence the organization’s name) to find clean water, it’s working to make safe water sources more accessible.

One of its signature fundraising events each year is 4 Miles 4 Water, now in its 11th year, taking place on the Flats East Bank, starting at 1085 Old River Road with the course going along the river. Participants can sign up for the four-mile run, a one-mile run, or they can opt to walk. There’s also a youth fun run and an option to participate virtually. All ages are welcome and there’s a reduced entry fee for 17 and under. Leashed dogs are welcome too! Pre-and post-run activities include awards to category winners and medals to all taking part. There’ll also be food and beverages available for purchase.

To register go here. On-site check in starts at 8:30 and the first runners go out at 9:30am
