Fri 5/17 @ 5-9PM
Once again, it’s time for that arts feast known as Third Friday, taking place at the huge 78th Street Studios building. If you haven’t checked out all the new businesses that have moved in since late last year, you need to get over there. There’s been a lot of change.
As usual, there’ll be guest artists and makers from Northcoast Productions in the big event spaces, food trucks outside and drinks available at BARneo on the Ramp level, as well as musicians scattered around the building.
But there are two big new things you should check out. Over at E11even2 Gallery, the pop culture/affordable art space at the far back of the ground floor, gallery co-owner R!ch Cihlar and graffiti artist-turned-canvas master Bob Peck are opening a two-person show called The Don’t Panic Room, in which their artwork opens up a series of interactive challenges. And those who complete all the challenges successfully could win a free piece of art. The show will run through June 21.
Things will be a little more sedate, but still fascinating, over at HEDGE Gallery, whose new show Spatial Harmony also opens. There’ll be three artists whose work will be on view. Regular visitors to 78th Street will be familiar with the work of painter Justin Brennan whose studio, located on the building’s top floor, is usually open for art walks. Also on view will be work by Columbus painter Aaron Troyer and Cleveland ceramicist Kero Johannes, both making their debut at HEDGE.
Third Friday is free and open to all, including well-behaved kids and dogs. Kristi Noem will be turned away by order of the dogs.
