The monthly Bainbridge swing dance sashays into summer with another evening offering dancing to live music, socializing and meeting new people.
They start at 8pm with a dance class, so beginning can learn the basic steps and experienced dancers can pick up new ones while helping the beginners learn the ropes. These dances are welcoming to both, and you can come with a significant other with your family or alone, because in this type of dancing you’ll change partners all evening.
The band takes the stage at 9pm and dancing goes on until 11. The dances have a roster of bands and artists who make likely, danceable music and this month Northeast Ohio Americana stalwart J. Scott Franklin turns up in the rotation. He’s performed with such ensembles as the Ohio Collegiate Jazz Ensemble and the Jerry Bruno Orchestra as well as his own J Scott Franklin Jazz Ensemble, which offers a set list of jazz standards, country classics by artists such as Hank Williams and Johnny Cash, and original music derived from those influences.
The dances take place on the first Saturday of each month at the Family Life Center in Chagrin Falls. No pre-registration is required; pay at the door with cash or check. Get more information here.
