Sat 5/18-Sun 5/19
The two-day Cleveland Asian Festival, now in its 15th year, made one major change for the better this year. While people come to enjoy the entertainment from dancers to musicians to martial arts experts, browse the organization booths and shop the vendors, the main reason they come is for wide variety of tasty Asian food.
And last year, as I was coming in, I ran into two friends leaving early to find a restaurant because the food lines were too long and slow. This year, the festival doubled its food footprint, expanding out of the lot behind Asiatown Plaza in both directions. The lines were still long, but with so many more vendors, they moved quickly. As usual, the crowd was diverse and colorful, this year more so because the strong sun had many attendees toting umbrellas or purchasing parasols.
