Soaring Heart, taking place at Mentor Headlands Beach State Park, is a charity event for Crossroads Health, but it’s not just another run-of-the-mill walk/run that fill every spring and fall weekend.  Instead, they’re going to try to break their record of flying more than 2,000 kites at the same time at the most kite-flying-friendly location in northeast Ohio.

“This will truly be an event of a lifetime,” says Crossroads Health Chief Development Officer James Wyman. “We come together again to celebrate and embrace our shared humanity and paint the sky with color and movement.” 

In addition to clogging the (fortunately) sprawling beach with kites, there’ll be food trucks, a DJ, entertainment, games and other activities. Maybe you can even swim although the current water temperature is in the mid 50s. Wear a wet suit or make it quick! The event is free and geared to all ages.
