African American Doll & Quilt Guild Showcases Work at Two-Day Event

Fri 5/17-Sat 5/18 @ 10AM-2PM

The Warrensville Heights African American Quilt and Doll Guild could almost be considered a guerrilla arts group in northeast Ohio, largely unknown but surfacing here and there to show off the extraordinary output of its members, work that displays technical mastery and sophisticated artistry. Perhaps you’ve seen it on display at the annual Station Hope event in Ohio City or caught their recent show at the Praxis Fiber Workshop Gallery, where exposed a whole new audience to the group’s range and skills.

This weekend, at the Church of the Savior in Cleveland Heights, they’ll be hosting their 8th annual Quilt and Doll show called“Stitching Stories: Celebrating Our Heritage.” The two-day event will include a gallery exhibition, a trunk show, a fashion show, vendors and guest speakers as well as a quilting “make & take” opportunity where you’ll likely find it’s nowhere as easy as you might think.
