Fri 4/19 @ 5:30-9PM
Vocalist Evelyn Wright has been a mainstay of the area music scene for four decades. She’s adept at jazz, pop and R&B. She’s a regular performer with the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra; she’s also fronted the Akron Symphony and Ernie Krivda’s Fat Tuesday Band and performed numerous times at Tri-C JazzFest. She’s done tributes to Ella Fitzgerald and Nancy Wilson, among others, and she’s sung with wedding bands. You never know where you’ll run into this versatile and hard-working musician.
This weekend, you can run into her at Cuyahoga Valley National Park’s Happy Days Lodge where she’ll be exploring the roots of American music from Louis Armstrong. To Duke Ellington with a trip through the Great American Songbook with the able assistance of pianist Joe Hunter, another local jazz mainstay, and his quartet.
There’s a catered meal prior to the concert at 5:30 or just come for the music at 7pm. Get tickets to the concert only or dinner and concert here. It’s open seating and there’s a cash bar available to all.
