There’s Art and Music Everywhere at Walk All Over Waterloo

Work by Laura Ruth Bidwell

Fri 5/3 @ 5-9PM

It says it’s going to be hot (80!) and rainy on Friday, but it’s Monday when I’m writing this, so hopefully the rain will be over in time for the May edition of Walk All Over Waterloo, because there’ll be a lot of great things to see.

You can catch a couple of ongoing things if you weren’t able to make it in April. At Deep Dive Art Projects’ intimate viewing gallery you can take a deep dive into Daily Vanitas, works on paper by photographer/mixed-media artist Laura Ruth Bidwell. Using clippings from The New York Times which she collages and paints, she reflects on New York City’s iconic places and activities, using them to engage in humor and social criticism and reflect on life, death, art, history and culture through juxtaposition. They’ll be open from 5-8pm.

Down the street at Article Jill Milenski’s Colors of Europe continues, featuring her oil pastels of scene from her recent European trip. They’re open from 6-9pm with Milenski doing an artist talk at 7.

Upstairs at the building on the corner of East 156th and Waterloo at the Maria Neil Art Project Byron Miller & Adam Sheetz’s show Mask 2020 also continues. Photographer Bryon Miller shot models in masks designed by Sheetz to ask how we got through the COVID pandemic. Stop in from 5-9pm. Also upstairs in the building, at William Busta Projects, check out the opening of Lori Kella: Vignettes, and explore the artist’s complex, photographically based images centered on nature and the environment from 5-8pm.

Be sure to stop up at Brick Ceramics where, from 6-9pm, they’ll be having a sale of handmade items crafted in their studio. Maybe you’ll be inspired to sign up for a class and make your own!

And if you’re in the mood for some music, stop in at the Cleveland Rocks Shop at 6-8pm and catch sets by Corry Michaels and Justyn Allen. It’s free!
