Fri 4/5 @ 5-8PM
Summit Artspace in Akron celebrates its next batch of five shows with its Spring Exhibitions Opening Night, when art lovers are invited to stop by and discover something that tickles their fancy from the diverse collections of work in the building’s various galleries, unified by a focus on growth and resilience.
In the Betty and Howard Taylor Main Gallery you’ll find Matt Miller’s Happiness & the End of the World, featuring new paintings and mixed-media works with a pop-art influence that draw on nature, mythology and folklore. In the Horizon Gallery, Sylvia Sykes’ show The Aunties looks at the multiple roles of women in the Black community.
The other shows are group shows. Starburst, the juried high school exhibition, will be on view in the Welcome Gallery and hallways. The Medina County Art League Exhibition will be in the Intersections Gallery, and the Artists of Rubber City Juried Exhibition will be in the Forum Gallery, with awards announced at 6pm.
You can see the shows Fridays @ noon-7pm and Saturdays @ 11am-5pm, through June 15. There’s more information here.
