The North Union Farmer’s Markets kicked off the farm market craze in Northeast Ohio back in 1995 when they launched their first market. Now they have two major markets that run year-round at Shaker Square (the original market) and Crocker Park, plus five smaller seasonal markets across the county, all of which offer products grown and made within a short distance of Cuyahoga County.
The Shaker Square and Crocker Park run indoors from January through March, but this week they open outside again, as crops start to appear (ramps should be in soon, if they’re not already) and more vendors return for the season. Opening day will feature vendors with fresh produce, meat and dairy products, value-added items, baked goods, local crafts and more, with flowers and plant starters coming in a few weeks. There’ll be a blessing of the farmers, live music and cooking demonstrations.
The Shaker Market runs from 8am-noon; Crocker Park market hours are 9am-1pm.
