Fri 9/6-Sun 9/29
The Cleveland Photo Fest, which was founded in 2019 by three area photographers — Herb Ascherman, Laura D’Alessandro and Jim Szudy — has announced the location, dates, lineup of shows and special events for this year’s 5thannual CPF (of course it skipped 2020).
It will again take place at the Bostwick Design Art Initiative at 26th and Payne, whose numerous galleries offer opportunities to mount multiple shows. It opens on Friday, September 6 at noon, and a free public reception in the evening with music by the New Sons of Erie at 7pm. The gallery shows will be on view through September 29 with viewing hours from noon-9pm Fridays, and noon-5pm Saturdays and Sundays. There’ll be regular programming each Friday evening with some of the artists whose work is on the walls.
This year’s event will feature seven shows in the multi-room location. They include a collection of black & white portraits of county mayors and municipal administrators photographed by 30 area photographers, a group of women’s self-portraits, the annual volunteer show, two solo shows by native Cleveland photographers (fashion and celebrity photos by Arlene Pachasa and Extrusionism by Daniel Hertel-Cournoyer), and most exciting of all, the long-awaited CATography show — and your cat might be part of it! The CATography is open to submissions now. Go here to learn how to submit.
