Guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Guy Snowdon relocated Cleveland from Birmingham, England in 2016, bringing with him an armful of British influences including the Beatles, ELO and Queen. Once settled, he formed his band Guy Snowdon & the Citizens, which debuted at the Beachland in the fall of 2019.
Since then the band, which also includes guitarist Greg Hido. drummer Matthew Schieferstein and backing vocalist Tanisha Salary has been busy, despite the intervening pandemic just as they were getting their feet wet. They’ve released several singles, a live EP and a full-length album titled One, and played regional dates in Michigan, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania and Maryland.
This week they’re dropping their second full-length, titled Two, with digital release on all platforms April 5 and vinyl and CDs available at their shows. (They’re at Youngstown’s West Side Bowl April 10, the Tree Lawn Social Club on Waterloo on April 13 and Akron’s Buzzbin on April 27). The album includes nine tracks ranging from uptempo to pensive, including “Forgotten Heroes” “Join the Fight,” “The Saint” and “Rain.” A successful Kickstarter campaign funded the vinyl release.
