BlueWater Chamber Orchestra Concert Features Classical Guitarist Jason Vieaux

Sat 5/4 @ 7:30PM

For their concert this month, Cleveland’s BlueWater Chamber Orchestra and the Cleveland Classical Guitar Society have joined forces to present an evening of orchestral music featuring classical guitar at the Church of the Covenant in University Circle.

Antonio Vivaldi’s Concerto in D, from the 1730s, was originally conceived for a solo lute, but it’s adaptable to guitar, which it’s often been. Forty-nine-year-old Israeli composer Avner Dorman’s How to Love for guitar and string quartet will be having its Cleveland premiere, although the guest guitarist, Jason Vieaux, has performed the piece elsewhere including its world premiere at the Eastern Music Festival in North Carolina in 2022. The Grammy-winning, internationally musician Vieaux, of course, is familiar to local audiences from his multitude of performances here and heading the guitar department at the Cleveland Institute of Music.

The concert will conclude with a reliable crowdpleaser, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7. The concert will be conducted by BlueWater’s artistic director Daniel Meyer. Come early and at 6:45p. you can hear a pre-concert performance on Church of the Covenant’s carillon by carilloner Keiran Cantilina.
