Fri 4/19 @5PM
Musician/peace and environmental activist/Kirtan practitioner/yogi Zach Friedhof, an Akron native, began his musical career in the late 90s, releasing his first CD in 1999. He hit the ground running and for a long time, he was everywhere in the Akron scene, organizing events, collaborating with various musicians and pumping out album after album of his sweet, peace-yearning folk/pop music. He also travelled, performing low-key shows, often in alternative venues, around the country. In the few years, his travels have taken him away from Akron to Wyoming’s Teton Mountains where he now spends most of his time.
If this makes him sound like some blissed-out hippie, his productivity believes that impression. He has just released his 37th album, Expedition of the Heart (In addition to music, he’s put out six Kirtan records and four books of meditations, poetry and photography). He “hopes his recordings and shows can be a catalyst for uplift, mental health, and community,” he says.
To celebrate he’ll be performing “an evening with Zach” at the Rialto Living Room in Akron where you can also have dinner and drinks. RSVP here.
