Sat 3/30 @ 11AM-4PM

Are you a Black writer who dreams of being the next August Wilson? Then you will definitely want to sign up for a one-day workshop called “Black People Writing Black Plays,” co-hosted by Literary Cleveland and ThirdSpace Action Lab and dedicated to “Black playwrights, actors, storytellers, theatre enthusiasts and other creatives.”

The workshop presenters are an all-star line-up of the area’s Black theater folk: writer/director/actor Nina Domingue, writer/director Michael Oatman, writer Dr. Mary E. Weems, and director, mentor and fountain of theater knowledge Terrance Spivey, who revived Karamu’s legendary theater after it fell on hard times and since moving on has been involved in numerous projects around the country and in Cleveland. In addition Heights Poet Laureate SIaara Freeman will be doing a reading. So it should be an afternoon of inspiration and shared wisdom.
