The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is doing its best — sometimes overdoing it — to redress the sins of misogyny that have long been endemic to the music industry. And this week, its Rock Hall Nights series will return with a special edition to celebrate the opening at a new exhibit called Revolutionary Women in Music: Left of Center.
Attendees will get an advance look at the show which opens on Friday March 8, with gallery talks inside the exhibit. The Rock Hall’s VP of curatorial affairs Shelby Morrison will make some remarks and introduce special guests Jane Wiedlin of the Go-Go’s (inducted into the Rock Hall in 2021), Garbage’s Shirley Morrison, and Lisa Loeb who’ll perform a three-song set following the remarks.
The evening will also feature a DJ set by Rachel Hunt, artifact presentations from the Rock Hall Library and Archives; a playbook in the Garage’s Jam Room featuring songs by the women in the exhibit; a new film From the Induction Vault: Women in Music through the Years, showing some of the Hall’s woman inductees; and a screening of the 2013 documentary The Punk Singer about Kathleen Hanna who fronted the groundbreaking band Bikini Kill.
Admission is free for members and City of Cleveland residents. Others can get tickets here.
