Today is the actual day of the primary election, something that’s become a bit anticlimactic in this era of early voting and mail-in voting. But it’s your last chance to get to the polls — and you should do so.
Yes, this presidential year, typically a high-profile primary election, isn’t competitive. On both the Democratic and Republican ballots, all significant competition has dropped out, although you can still vote for Dean Phillips (Democrat) or Vivek Ramaswamy (Republican) if that makes you feel better. The Republican Senate primary is competitive, as is the Democratic primary for Cuyahoga County prosecutor. Otherwise the big issue on the ballot is the Health and Human Services Levy which you can vote on regardless of party, or without declaring a part by asking for an issues-only ballot.
