Dance Ensemble and Jazz Trio Join Forces for Performances

Fri 3/22 @ Sat 3/23 @ 7:30PM

One thing exciting going on in the Cleveland arts community now is cross-disciplinary presentations, with musicians, dancers, actors, visual artists, storytellers and more cross-pollinizing each other’s work. There’s even an organization, Maelstrom Collaborative Ensemble, whose entire model is based on this method of working.

GroundWorks DanceTheater, one of northeast Ohio’s best-known and most established dance ensembles, has also worked outside a pure dance format. And as it celebrates its 25th season this year, it’s again reaching out to present a program called LIMIT (LESS) in collaboration with area jazz pianist Theron Brown and his trio. The dancers will perform to music Brown has written, played live by his ensemble. In addition, it will be presented in the POMP PARTIES space at the Twist Drill Building, where instead of sitting in orderly rows of seats, you can share a table with friends, crash on a couch or comfortable chair, or move around the space and watch from different angles. And there’ll also be a cash bar, with beer, wine and soft drinks, available at the performances. Children and students are welcome; Students with valid ID are just $10 and kids 12 and under are free. Get tickets here.
