Last year, Akron’s Crafty Mart, which hosted that city’s maker fairs, pulled the plug shortly before its annual holiday shows, leaving artisans and vendors stranded. Shannon Oakey’s Cleveland Bazaar, which has been hosting such events for 20 years, stepped into the breach and put together another holiday event.
Now the Cleveland Bazaar has established a beach head in Akron with its new series of Akron Bazaars which launch this week to offer a regular event for artists, craftspeople and makers of handmade items.
“Our event is the younger sister of Cleveland Bazaar, which has been hosting these kinds of popups since 2004,” they say. “After last year’s successful Akron holiday market at R. Shea and Bounce Innovation Hub we are excited to bring you an entire year’s worth of programming in the heart of downtown at a new venue right at the corner of South Main and Bowery.”
They kick off this week with the “Eclipse Edition,” where you’ll likely run into favorite vendors from the Crafty Marts, as well as new makers. Admission is free.
