The Music Box Supper Club’s weekly Sunday brunches typically feature a tribute band or artist, along with a lavish all-you-can-eat spread of food.
But this week, in honor of Mardi Gras, which happens on Tuesday February 13, it will host a Mardi Gras brunch featuring Akron-based Mo’Mojo, northeast Ohio’s most prominent avatars of the New Orleans sound and self-dubbed “party-gras” band. It doesn’t require Mardi Gras, however, for this woman-fronted band to shake things up and get bodies rocking. Their wide-ranging repertoire of American roots music, flavored with zydeco- and Cajun-inspired washboard and accordion, as well as fiddle, guitar, sax, trumpet and more, is a hit year-round. It’s led by lead vocalist/guitarist/accordion player Jen Maurer, a beloved veteran of the local music scene.
