Forum Looks at the Impact of Big Tech Companies on Our Lives

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Cleveland’s biweekly “Forums That Matter” community forum series presents another hot topic this week: “Monopolies: Google, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft.

Associate Professor of Economics, at Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management Jenny Hawkins and CWRU associate professor of law Anet Alon-Beck will talk about the impact of these ubiquitous and rapidly becoming essential companies on our lives. They are the four most valuable companies in the U.S. and four of the five most valuable in the world, with the power to shape the lives of all of us with their ownership of digital space and most of the world’s information including your private information

The forum will explore questions such as “what’s the effect on our communities, personal lives or the Internet?, “How can competition be regulated?” and “What will be the future of the internet or our dependency on it? The forums are all free and open to all. Get a full schedule of topics here.
