Cleveland’s Night Terrors Explore the Outer Realms of Music at the BOP STOP

Wed 2/28 @ 7PM

Even though you’ll see the same two musicians onstage at each Night Terrors show, you can be assured you won’t hear the same music.

That’s because the duo — Akron guitarist Tim Mirth and percussionist Paul Stranahan — are a couple of the area’s most adventurous musicians who promise unique, largely improvised music at each show. Both have eclectic musical backgrounds — jazz, metal, avant-garde music, among others and have played in a wide variety of projects. When they come together as Night Terrors, they perform open-ended compositions that leave lots of room for the improvisational explorations that fuel their music. Mirth uses extensive guitar effects, while Stranahan is known for expanding his drum kit with gongs and Tibetan singing bowls. They’ve described their sound as “a template of soundscapes and movements to take one through some kind of hazy, often scary, dream.”

The setting for their next show is familiar — the BOP STOP. And while the element of their sound may also be, the way they combine them will be different. Gio here for tickets. The show will also be livestreamed on the BOP STOP’s Facebook page.
