Cleveland Heights’ Cain Park Holds Inaugural Freeze Fest

Sat 2/24 @ 4-9PM

Sun 2/25 @ noon-4PM

In this winter without significant snow, it seems like there’s been a proliferation of “winter fests,” joining the big one, Brite Winter, happening in the Flats this weekend.

For decades, Cain Park’s sled hill, sloping down from its Taylor Road side, has been a gathering place for families and kids; we saw a ton of them driving by there on that one day when we had some snow cover. But whether or not there’s snow (and the weather forecast is saying no), that’s where Cain Park’s first annual Cain Park Freeze Fest is taking place.

Still, bundle up, because temperatures are predicted to be just above freezing, and head over to the sledding hill. At the top there’ll be what they call a “winter wonderland” of heated tents occupied by local businesses such as The Wine Spot, CLE Urban Winery and Marchand Cheese Manor, alongside food trucks and a fire pit. DJ Marcus Alan Ward will be spinning tunes. And if the weather’s cooperative, there’ll be sledding, although I wouldn’t count on it. Hopefully, they’ll come up with some games to keep the kids occupied; a few balls to kick around should do the trick.

The event is free; go here for more information.
