The tireless singer/songwriter/guitarist/kirtan leader/“troubadour of peace” Zach Freidhof is at it again, doing what he does best — writing, performing and releasing new music. The Akron musician who now spends most of his time out west in Wyoming’s Teton Mountains, is released his 37th (!) record in 25 years, Expedition of the Heart, on March 8. He’s already released a single called “Afterlight.” Here’s the video for the song, made by Jason Chamberlain.
“This is a beautiful record, featuring songs that have come out of the process and experience of my life the last few years,” he says in typical Zach-like fashion. “I’d love to hear how it resonates with you.”
He’s not in northeast Ohio as much as he once was. But he’ll be back on Saturday March 2 for a kirtan session at HUG in Akron with musicians Matt DeRubertis, Josh Sherman and Mark Nathanson that he says “is sure to be a powerful and beautiful musical meditative experience.”
He’ll return on Friday April 19 to do acoustic performances of songs from the new album at the Rialto Theatre Living Room. He adds, “This is going to be a productive year, with at least 3 more records slated for release, containing some of the best music I’ve yet been part of creating.”
