Fri 2/2 @7:30PM
Story Club Cleveland is back for its February forum and of COURSE the subject is “lover.” They’re inviting true stories, good and bad, about love affairs of all kinds and what love has meant in the storyteller’s life.
If you’re not familiar with the event, here’s how it works. There are a couple of local “celebrity” storytellers (usually writers or comedians), followed by three community storytellers chosen from those who sign up. (If more than three sign up, names are drawn from a hat.) Each storyteller has eight minutes or 1300 words to tell their story — and it must be true — no fiction!
Sign-up starts at 7pm and storytelling starts at 7:30pm. This month’s celebrities are comedian Amy Phipps Wray and writer Lauren Karch. As usual, Story Club Cleveland founder Dana Norris hosts.
Story Club Cleveland evenings now take place at the Brownhoist in Asiatown. Tickets include munchies and there’s a cash bar available. This month’s profits will benefit Equality Ohio, which really needs help, given the recent passage in the Ohio legislature of an appalling anti-trans bill filled with hate, not love.
