Through Mon 1/8
If you haven’t heard that northeast Ohio is in the path of a total eclipse on Monday April 8, when the moon will completely black out the sun for three minutes in mid-afternoon, you haven’t been paying attention. It’s being promoted as a major tourist attraction.
And south of Cleveland, in Kent, the Kent Eclipse 2024 Committee and Kent businesses are also gearing up for a weekend of activities preceding the Big Day (as is Cleveland.)
Among other things, they’re preparing to put up a temporary public art installation on several downtown buildings around the theme of the eclipse. Now through January 8, they’ll be accepting artist submissions that interpret a solar eclipse, with five by five different artists chosen to be depicted. Artists of all ages, cultures, identities and artistic backgrounds are urged to apply. Chosen artists will be awarded $300 and will NOT be responsible for materials and installation.
