Sat 1/20 @ 11AM-3PM
If looking at the Cleveland Museum of Art’s collection inspires you to want to make your own art, come down to the museum on the third Saturday of the month and hang out in the Ames Family Atrium for “Art in the Atrium.” There, a local artist or makers will lead demonstrations and hands-on artmaking activities. And you’ll have a chance to explore objects from the museum’s art education collection.
This month, Zygote Press will be hosting a session devoted to the printmaking process of etching, which has a long history. You might not emerge as Rembrandt, whose etchings are in the museum’s collection, but printmaker Michael Whitehead will give you an idea of the tool and process that went into Rembrandt’s practice. And artist Amirah Cunningham will show you how to use an etching press to make your own print inspired by those in its current exhibition New Narratives: Contemporary Works on Paper.
The event is free. More info here.
