Grog Shop Showcases Local Talent During Its Annual Free Weekend

Thu 1/4-Sun 1/7

The Grog Shop has been a mainstay on the local music scene since 1992, presenting an array of indie bands in many genres, both touring and local, up to seven days a week. If nothing else is going on in town on a particular night, you can probably find its doors open (that includes days such as Thanksgiving and Christmas!)

Each January, a slow time for touring bands, it offers its annual free weekend — four days when you can check out a variety of local bands, some of them already making their names on the area music scene and some of them unknown. Each evening is devoted to a particular style of music so chances are if you like that one band you’re familiar with, you’ll like them all and maybe discover a new favorite.

Thursday is jam band night with Melted Strawberry, Blind Joel Wallace  and Robbie Allan & The Loveshack. Friday is dedicated to indie rock with Youth Pallet, Non Bruises and Clare Feorene. Saturday is headbangers heaven with the hardcore/punk/stoner rock of Pillars, the 3rd PYRAMID band, Kill The Hippies and Skwerm. And Sunday is all about hip hop, with Madstarr, Ghutty Mac, Retro Pharaoh, Lil Jesse and Astral HouseFly.

Again, no tickets are needed; just drop in. More info here.
