Cleveland’s BorderLight Theatre Festival launched in 2019 — just in time to get shut down the next year by the pandemic. But it proved durable and came back the following year as a virtual festival and last year as an all-fringe festival, open to acts of all types: comedians, performance artists, drag and burlesque performers, circus acts, dancers, multi-disciplinary act and more.
The 2024 festival will take place July 24-27, and it’s currently open for submissions through February 4. They say “the festival welcomes work from established and emerging companies that are local, non-local, and international.” Apply here.
\If you want to know more about what BorderLight is about or are wondering if you or your ensemble fits in with its mission, it’s hosting an interactive virtual Q&A on January 11 @ 6PM, which it says is “an opportunity to ask questions of BorderLight staff about the festival, get advice from fellow creatives, and share your ideas for self-producing and marketing your work.” The Zoom link is posted here.
