Youngstown Band The Vindys End the Year with a Bang at House of Blues

Sat 12/30 @ 7PM

Youngstown rockers The Vindys debuted a decade ago and woodshedded for a few years in obscurity before their reputation in northeast Ohio started to snowball and eventually spill out of the area. Charismatic frontwoman, singer/guitarist/lyricist Jackie Popovec is the band’s main selling point with a powerful yet subtle howl that evokes classic R&B vocalists such as Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner. But she’s well supported by the hard-rocking band, led John Anthony and Rick Deak on guitars and harmony vocals.

The Vindys released a seven-track EP Red Wine in 2014, which served to announce their presence, and the nine-track Keep Going in 2016, which gave them some serious momentum. They dropped their latest album Bugs in 2022, followed by some touring this past year, showing regional audiences what northeast Ohioans already know: that the band is ready for major career expansion.

Recently they released a new track called “Too Effin’ Cold,” a commentary on this area’s weather.  But we’re hardy so that shouldn’t stop you from checking them out at the House of Blues this weekend where the Commonheart and Britny Lobas will be opening the show. Go here for tickets.
