There won’t be any surprises at the Cleveland Orchestra’s holiday concerts but that’s what makes them so popular: you know you’ll hear all the familiar carols, both traditional and contemporary pop hits, and be asked to sing along and you know Santa (“a surprise visitor from the North Pole”) will put in an appearance.
Brett Mitchell will conduct the Cleveland Orchestra and the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus, with guest vocalist Capathia Jenkins, a Broadway actress and singer who’s been a frequent guest of the orchestra when they do a pop-oriented concert.
In addition, there’ll be guest youth and children’s choruses including the Cleveland Orchestra Children’s Chorus (December 16 & 17, December 22 & 23 matinees, the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus Chamber Ensemble (December 17, 21 & 22), Wooster Chorus of The College of Wooster (December 13 and 14) and the Cleveland State University Chorale (December 13 and 15).
