If you’re starting to feel nostalgic for Cedar Point’s roller coasters, bundle up and head over the Cleveland Metroparks’ Mill Stream Run Reservation: the toboggan chutes are opening again this week! The pair of 700-foot chutes — the longest chutes in Ohio — with their 70-foot drop reach speeds of up to 50 miles an hour. So they can give you at least a taste of those summertime thrills.

The refrigerated chutes are open weekends through late February, weather permitting, operating in most weather except for extreme conditions (temperatures below zero or over 50, heavy rain). They also run expanded hours over the holidays. With the exception of Christmas Eve Day and Christmas Day, hey’ll be open ever day from Wednesday December 20 through Tuesday January 2. And yes, that includes New Year’s Day. Check their website for times.

Advance reservations are required, which you can make here. It’s an especially good idea to make them early over the holidays when families are all looking for things to o. All riders must be at least 42” tall and wear gloves or mittens. You’ll get a timed ticket but once you’re checked in you can keep on tobogganing under close. The Chalet will be open, and there are restrooms and concessions available.
