Back in the ’70s and ’80s, when he fronted the Lorain-based band Fayrewether, Paul Fayrewether was one of the biggest stars in the local music scene. That band became know for its exceptional renditions of songs by Genesis, complete with theatrical accoutrements. At the height of the band’s popularity in the late ’70s and early-mid ’80s, they packed rooms all over the region.
Fayrewether attempted some original material and released several albums, but never found that sweet spot where their Genesis roots morphed into an original style. They disbanded in the mid ’90s, and Fayrewether continued to perform on his own, albeit much less frequently, utilizing his smooth warm voice, charismatic good looks and lingering echoes of Genesis’ prog-rock drama to continue to charm area audiences.
Now Paul Fayrewether is returning to home base with a show at the Lorain Palace Theatre that will feature highlights from his 50-year career, which began in 1974. Undoubtedly that will include some choice Genesis selections. Get tickets here.
