Once upon a very long time ago, Kevin Dugan and Tom Perme were a couple of music-infatuated kids learning the ropes doing support work for bands. While Dugan was a roadie for the James Gang, the Raspberries and Rainbow Canyon, Perme as part of the legendary “Rowdy Roadies” who handled production for countless national-level headliners passing through the city’s premier club, the Agora.
Dugan moved to Los Angeles in 1975 and soon hooked up with some major acts which brought him into the Van Halen orbit; he’s worked for the band’s bassist Michael Anthony for more than three decades. He’s also been the production manager for the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp for the last decade.
Like many of the other Rowdy Roadies, Perme used the connections he made as a springboard to the next level, touring around the world with acts such as Eddie Money, the Runaway, Foreigner, Bill Squier and Miles Davis. He’s now semi-retired and living in northeast Ohio.
Each Christmas Dugan comes back to Ohio and shares his road stories at the Music Box Supper Club; this year, Perme’s joining him. Their wild and wooly stories start unspooling at 7pm. The club opens for inner at 5pm. Admission is free, but make a reservation if you want to eat.
