Yards Project Takes an Unfamiliar Look at Cleveland

Thu 11/30 @ 5:30-8:30PM

For the next show at the Yards project, the gallery on the ground floor of the Worthington Apartments in the Warehouse District, dubbed The Cleveland Show, co-curators Cheryl Lynn Craver and Chevy looked for works that showed unfamiliar sides of the city in painting, printmaking and photographer.

“Defamiliarization is artistic technique of presenting to audiences common things in an unfamiliar or strange way so they could gain new perspectives and see the world differently,” says the show’s press release. “This show re-imagines Cleveland as if you are seeing it for the first time.”

Artists in the show include Karen Beckwith, Jeff Benedetto, Tim Callaghan, Tim Herron, Ingrid Hoegner Leek, Jesse Rhinehart, Vivica Satterwhite, Joan Satow, Jeff Suntala and Dawn Tekler. It opens Thursday November 30 with a free public reception featuring food, drink and music. It will be on view through January 6.
