Fri 12/1 @ 6PM
The theme of this month’s MIX party at the Cleveland Museum of Art is Beat Street,” and that’s what its Ames Family Atrium will become when a whole army of DJs takes their turns facing off with the turntables. Among them: DJ Kristyles, DJ Eso, DJ Chicago, DJ Jack Da Rippa, DJ Chevi Red, one of the scene’s most respected veterans DJ Corey Grand, and one of its youngest spinners, eight-year-old DJ Lily Jade who is now the age Grand was when he first got interested in music. That will make for a great variety of beats.
Pace yourself; you may be tempted to dance all night. Take a break though to admire the breakdancers who’ll be performing throughout the evening. There’ll be food, including “street-art-inspired baked goods” and cocktails, wine and beer available for purchase. And if you can tear yourself away from atrium’s giant dance floor you can also check out the museum’s current special exhibitions, China’s Southern Paradise: Treasures from the Lower Yangzi Delta and Degas and the Laundress: Women, Work, and Impressionism.
Get tickets here. It’s 21 and over only.
