During the pandemic local music maven Sue Csendes came up with the idea of a Musicians & Friends Garage Sale on the Nautica Boardwalk to give musicians and people who worked in and around the music scene a chance to bolster their budgets while they were sidelined by COVID.
The two events were a big hit, so last year it moved indoors to the Music Box Supper Club. That’s where it will take place again, same day, same time and even more vendors selling a treasure trove of music-related stuff: recordings, memorabilia, instruments and other gear, concert photos, tour programs, vintage band T-shirts, books, posters and more.
Many of the vendors are musicians, authors, photographers and other in the business so it’s a great chance to schmooze as well as shop for gifts for the music fans you know. John Gorman, the WMMS program director whose vision produced the station that dominated NE Ohio airwaves for more than two decades, will be on hand with rare WMMS memorabilia, and David Helton, the artist who created the WMMS Buzzard, will be back in town (he now lives in Tennessee) with his hand-drawn creations.
Look for concert photographers Joe Kleon and Anastasia Pantsios with their huge stash of photos, Anastasia with the largest collection of classic rock photos of any area photographer, and Joe with more recent artists including — Taylor Swift!
There’ll be a lot of fan/collectors selling their overflow as well and eager to chat about their favorite artists. To keep up with who has signed up to be a vendor and what they’ll have on hand, go to the Musicians and Friends Garage Sale Facebook page.
The Music Box’s bar will be open. Admission is free.
