Letterman Show Comedy Writer Hosts Evening of Corporate Musical Films

Thu 11/9 @ 7:30PM

You’re unlikely to have ever seen — or even heard about — any of the films that are part of a special evening at the CIA Cinematheque this week. The Weird & Wonderful World of Industrial Musicals, presented live by Late Show with David Letterman comedy writer Steve Young looks at musical films made to be shown at corporate convention, sales meetings and product launches, with dancing and singing revolving around the sales pitch.

The films were produced between the 1950s and 1980s for companies such as Purina, General Electric, Kellogg’s and Hamm’s Beer. And Young will share the stories behind the films as well with live music, album covers and Snarky commentary.”  The program will open with a pair of short comedies that Young wrote and starred in, Photo Op and Brief Survey, which were screened at the 2022 Cleveland International Film Festival.
