Fri 11/17-Sun 11/19
The city of Medina is getting a jump on all the civic holiday celebrations with its 39th this weekend. Its downtown square will be ablaze with holiday lights and decorations, a lighted tree, a parade of lights and even fireworks.
The weekend-long event begins with the tree lighting by Mayor Dennis Hanwell and other civic leaders on Friday November 17 @ 7PM with the Medina Chorus providing appropriate music. The square will be lit up by more than 2,000 luminaries.
The holiday parade of lights starts at the high school at 5:30 Saturday and moves to the square; Mr and Mrs. Santa Claus make their appearance at 6:30 and kids can visit and take photos with them from 6:30-9pm. (Visits and photos with Mr. and Mrs. Claus continue from noon-2pm Sunday.) The fireworks go off from behind the courthouse at 9:45.
All weekend throughout town there’ll be activities such as ice carving demonstrations, a petting farm, live reindeer, a gingerbread house display, an appearance by the Tower City Tin Soldier, caroling, a holiday market and festive eats and drinks at downtown businesses. Shuttles will be available to ferry people between locations.
