British A Cappella Group Performs Holiday Music in Akron

Tue 12/5 @ 7:30PM

The King’s Singers is an a cappella vocal group, founded in Cambridge, England, in 1968. Though its personnel has (clearly) changed over the years the ensemble, which now performs around the world, still includes a lineup of two counter-tenors, a tenor, two baritones, and a bass.

The ensemble’s vast and diverse repertoire includes classical vocal repertoire and new material including pop tunes such as Disney favorites. When they come to E.J. Thomas Hall at the University of Akron as part of Tuesday Musical’s concert series, they’ll be drawing on that repertoire for a program of holiday-related music, much of which is likely to be familiar.

The King’s Singers will also be doing a workshop that day with teachers and students at Akron Public Schools’ Firestone Community Learning Center; the school’s Symphonic Choir will join them onstage for the concert’s finale.
