BlueWater Chamber Orchestra Plays an All-American Program

Fri 11/17 @ 7:30PM

Cleveland’s BlueWater Chamber Orchestra brings back a soloist who is very familiar to local classical music audiences: South Korean violinist Jinjoo Cho. While she’s built a reputation in her international touring, she also spent time teaching at Oberlin Conservatory and the Cleveland Institute of Music, and she’s the founder director of the ENCORE Chamber Music Institute which hosts education and training programs for young musicians in northeast Ohio. So she’s frequently been available to perform with area ensembles.

This week, the orchestra returns to the Church of the Covenant in University Circle where the violinist will join them for American composer Samuel Barber’s 1939 Violin Concerto. The all-American program opens with 70-year-old composer Cindy McTee’s Adagio and closes with one of the most familiar pieces of classical Americana — Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring: Suite for Full Orchestra.

The concert is “pay what you wish,” with a suggested donation of $20. Tickets are available in advance or at the door.
