Abattoir Gallery Shows Work by Atlanta Photographer

Fri 11/17 @ 6-8PM

Sat 11/18 @ 2PM

Photographer Nydia Blas grew up in Ithaca New York and is currently based in Atlanta, where she teaches at Spellman College. Her work focuses primarily on images of Black women and girls, whose lived experiences fuel her worldview and her activism. Some of the images appear spontaneous while others are clearly intricately staged. Her show The Silver Woman, opening at Abattoir Gallery in the Hildebrandt Provisions Building on Friday November 17, introduces a body of her work to Cleveland.

The following day at 2pm she’ll participate in a discussion with Cleveland multi-disciplinary artist Amanda King, founder of Shooting Without Bullets, which uses art to advocate for social change, equity and justice.

The Silver Woman will be on view through February 10, 2024.
