Wordstage Tells Scary Bram Stoker Stories That Aren’t Dracula

Sat 10/28 @ 7PM

Well, it’s that time of year. If any theater has a Dracula or a Frankenstein or any other scary story or tale of terror in their back pocket, they trot it out now.

And Cleveland’s Wordstage happens to have a couple of non-Dracula stories by the creator of Dracula, Bram Stoker taken from his collection, The Bram Stoker Bedtime Companion.

“The Secret of the Growing Gold” is about the bad things that happen to two feuding families, while the other tells the story of a naïve student who rents an evil house despite being warned about it. Anyone who’s ever seen a horror film knows THAT story!

Wordstage’s reading will be accompanied by eerie music by great classical composers include Camille Saint-Saens, Franz Schubert, Edvard Grieg and Felix Mendelssohn, played by violinist Mary Beth Ions and pianist Patrick Wickliffe.

The single performance takes place in the Wright Chapel of Lakewood Presbyterian Church. Go here for tickets and information.
