Fri 11/3 & Sat 11/4 @ 7:0PM

GroundWorks DanceTheater is celebrating its 25th season with a series of performances at Playhouse Square’s Allen Theatre October 13-14) and Akron Civic Theatre’s Knight Stage November 3-4.

The company will perform the same program at both venues. The three pieces on the program include a work commissioned by the company called “lasts a lifetime,” its first-ever commission from the team called FLOCK — Alice Klock and Florian Lochner, both formerly of Chicago’s Hubbard Street Dance. Featuring all five company members, the 26-minute piece is set to by music George Frideric Handel and contemporary composer Michael Wall.

Also on the program is a 2007 duet called “Sweet,” created by the company’s Founding Artistic Director David Shimotakahara to the song “Sweet in the Morning” by Bobby McFerrin.

The final piece on the program will be a new work called “WHO DONE IT?” by GroundWorks’ artist in residence Antonio Brown, inspired by the board game Clue. “Audiences are invited to test their sleuthing skills to find out who committed an onstage crime,” they tell us. This murder mystery stuff is everywhere!
