Lakeland Gallery Hosts Costume Party & Market at Its Skull & Skeleton Show

“Love Is the Drug” by Eric Rippert

Thu 10/26 @ 6-9PM

Every other year, Mary Urbas, director of The Gallery at Lakeland Community College, curates the Skull & Skeleton show during the Halloween season. It typically features around 100 artists, so doing it any more often would probably lead to a nervous breakdown!

Most of the artists are regional but a few come from such far-flung places as Denmark and Mexico — the show this year includes some authentic Mexican folk artwork among the 350 pieces on display, and the Lakeland Community College Hispanic club created an ofrena/altar. This year’s roster include 50 new artists to refresh the mix of work.

The show is already open and is on view through November 3. But the best time to come is this Thursday during theCostume Party Reception/Boneyard Market. It will feature an array of artist vendors selling lower-priced skull/skeleton-themed items in addition to the original artwork on display.

The party/market is free and open to all. By all means, wear a costume, but you’re also welcome without one.
