Main Street Kent’s annual Rainbow Weekend is back bigger then ever with two days to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, whether you’re part of it or just an ally, with copious music, drag shows, comedy, a bar crawl, a Rocky Horror Picture Show screening and hangout opportunities across downtown Kent.
There’s a Rainbow Weekend Kick-Off Happy Hour at 6pm at Water Street Tavern, followed by 5K Rainbow Run at 7pm and an “End of the Rainbow” party at North Water Brewing. Register here.
The Venice Café, the Zephyr Pub and Bricco Kent will all have entertainment, and Last Exit books will host a poetry and prose open mic @ 8-10pm. The Rocky Horror screening at the Kent Stage is, of course, at midnight.
Saturday opens on a serious note with the day with sessions on Safe Space Ally Training and a speaker panel, “Advocacy: TransOhio and Equality Ohio” at the Kent Free Library. The first-ever Rainbow Walk to collect rainbow-theme items from local businesses goes from 5-8pm; register here.
There’ll also be vendor markets, a drag brunch, drag karaoke, and more performances. Go here for a full schedule of events.
