Jonah Koslen Strikes It Up at the Kent Stage

Fri 11/3 @ 7PM

Michael Stanley was legendary for not liking to sing crowd favorite “Strike It Up” from the second Michael Stanley Band album, 1976’s Ladies Choice, that after its writer, guitarist Jonah Koslen left the group in 1977, he assigned its vocal to someone else (usually keyboard player Bob Pelander).

Koslen, of course, went on to a long and productive career with bands such as Breathless and Jonah Koslen & the Heroes, later rejoining Stanley in the Ghost Poets, did a kind of hippie/Jimmy Buffett thing for a while, and continued to write and release music showcasing how easily he slipped between heavy rocker and introspective singer/songwriter. In between he spent a dozen years in the 80s and 90s in Los Angeles.

Koslen reclaims “Strike It Up” and honors his entire history with a show at the Kent Stage called Strike It Up 2023. Get tickets here.
