Dance to the Songs of ’40/’50s Blues Shouters at the Bainbridge Swing Dance

Sat 11/4 @ 8PM

The monthly Bainbridge Swing Dances are an opportunity for people of all ages to socialize, learn some dance steps and hear some great live music.

Taking place at the Family Life Center in Chagrin Falls, OH 44023, the dances start with a lesson at 8pm so even if you’ve never danced before — or aren’t familiar with swing dancing — you can take part. And if you are you can pick up some new steps. Novices and experienced dancers can learn together.

And from 9-11pm everyone hits the dance floor to step out to the sounds of this month’s band, Toledo’s Hepcat Revival. The seven-piece ensemble has been rocking regional crowds for a quarter of a decade, performing music of such ’40s/’50s jump blues/jazz/swing shouters as Louis Jordan, Cab Calloway and Big Joe Turner, widely considered to be the direct precursors of rock & roll. And they dress to reflect that era too, although you can wear anything — just make sure to wear comfortable shoes!

Come alone, come with a partner, come with your family — it doesn’t matter because in this style of dance, you’ll be changing partners constantly and meeting new people.
