Breastfest Breast Cancer Benefit Features Lineup of Local Women Musicians

Sun 10/22 @ 2PM

For more than two decades, local musician Tracy Marie has been organizing Breastfest, raising money to help local cancer patients. Each year she gathers some of the area’s top women musician (and an occasional man) to perform a marathon concert, quite a heavy lift.

This year, for instance, the bill includes artists representing a wide span of ages genres and experience in the music scene: in addition to Tracy Marie herself, the day will launch with a drum-driven set by Primal Rhythm, followed by music from Sisters in Song (Kristine Jackson, Becky Boyd, Rachel Brown and Emma Shook) , Afi Scruggs, Susan Wojnar, Medusa, 80’s Ladies, Angelle Sheridan & the Jets, Molly Keane of Cassoulet, Bassah, Sara Keane of Don’t Call Me Dora, Ngina Fayola and Queen Bees.

And as host — yes, a token man! — “retired”musician/comedian Charlie Wiener, a mainstay of the area music scene for more than 50 years.

Money raised will go to The Gatherng Place, which provides services to cancer patients and their families. In addition to donations, they’ll be collecting unopened packages of feminine hygiene products. They’re suggesting a$20 donation at the door, but say “donate if you can, what you can or just your presence is enough.” And spread the word!

It takes place at Brothers Lounge. More info here.
