1980s Horror Film “Demons” Screens with Live Music at Capitol Theatre

Thu 10/12 @ 8PM

Dario Argenti’s horror film Demons revolves around a group of young people in modern-day Berlin trying to escape an infectious agent that turns people into equally infectious, murderous demons. A parable for Covid? Nope — it was released in 1985 and infectious epidemics are as old as time.

The scare factor is in line with the (ever expanding) Halloween season, so it’s a perfect time for a screening, such as the one at the Capitol Theatre in Gordon Square this week. But this one has something extra: live music performed by horror soundtrack composer Claudio Simonetti’s band Goblin, who will perform Simonetti’s Demons score. (Hopefully they’ll also play such quintessentially 80s soundtrack contributions such as Billy Idol’s “White Wedding” and Motley Crue’s “Save Our Souls.”)

After the film screens, the band will be back after a short intermission to perform a set of their own material, as well as songs and scores set to their cinematic counterparts.
